IFR Alps crossing without Oxygen

How high will the Inogen One G5 work (assuming two people on board)?

An Oxygen kit is one of the simplest, and cheapest, way to expand your IFR flying.

Absolutely – and VFR too! I bought an O2 kit years before I had the IR, because of the way it vastly expands your flying, around southern Europe. Not just the Alps but also a load of military airspace in e.g. Spain.

It’s because crossing the Alps in IFR levels without oxygen is not allowed, and there are reasons for this. So the answer in short has been given in the beginning. Now the thread turns towards alternatives.

However, the thread starter doesn’t seem to be around?

He only started it yesterday.

Yes the simple answer is that it can’t be done legally unless you go well east.

I’ve known a fair number of IR holders who don’t use O2 and I could never understand it. They must fly on perfect days only.

For the next thread, maybe we could do ‘landing without wheels; can it be done?’

🤪

Exactly, see what happened now? Scaring people away, no good

Now that is an invitation for @Pilot_DAR when looking at his avatar…

Depends on the runway wetness, I’d say
