@Peter some of these campaigns seem to have been inspired by I love Lucy
…am surprised Ronald Reagan didn’t star in a few campaigns :)
I love those images. They were discussed during a flight on Saturday, particularly the idea of flying an SEP whilst wearing a suit (likely brown) as well as smoking cigarettes in the cruise and doing without headsets.
I never smoked whilst flying (never smoked at all actually) but certainly wore a suit when flying to a business meeting in my SEP. Even in our smallish UK it served me very well to fly to meetings whenever possible. No need to now I have “retired”.

…a legendary CFI in the vicinity of LAM VOR used to chain smoke – the 152s ashtrays were invariably full :) His party trick was to remove the keys on a PFL in the overhead, and apparently throw them in the back(he actually threw a 2p coin and kept the keys in his hand).

Did he stayed in LAM or moved a bit north? I think I know this chain smoker !
Old school chap or better, he was born before schools were invented :)
@lbra I believe he has moved onto higher pastures.
He is giving IR rating to Angels now !
Move along to the 70s and you get to airline pilots flying wood and fabric planes IFR Bellanca’s sheer persistence makes me smile, and they sold a lot of them in that era.
