I love those images. They were discussed during a flight on Saturday, particularly the idea of flying an SEP whilst wearing a suit (likely brown) as well as smoking cigarettes in the cruise and doing without headsets.

I never smoked whilst flying (never smoked at all actually) but certainly wore a suit when flying to a business meeting in my SEP. Even in our smallish UK it served me very well to fly to meetings whenever possible. No need to now I have “retired”.

Did he stayed in LAM or moved a bit north? I think I know this chain smoker !

Move along to the 70s and you get to airline pilots flying wood and fabric planes IFR Bellanca’s sheer persistence makes me smile, and they sold a lot of them in that era.
