Navigraph Charts 8

“Navigraph Charts 8” product is in the works.

When Flightsim charts and Flight Planning start getting seriously close to real planning software, even for VFR now as they claim.

See:

The Aeronautical data will be the same.

So what remains is the difference in liabilities between the real flying planning software (guaranteed accuracy of data) versus a flightsim product which promises to be of equal accuracy … and much cheaper … but I guess will have the usual disclaimers of “Not for Real Navigation” type.

And also not usable offline :-(

Ahh … this I missed it.
So it’ll be only for home use I guess.

Has anyone established the difference between these and current Jepp? I have read all kinds of stuff.

One could write a script to scrape the server and download the lot. Perhaps with some intelligence, emulating a human operator. It can be done but the vendor will keep changing the website to block it.

Navigraph updates the charts only for AIRAC dates, not in-between, which Jeppesen sometimes does.

See https://forum.navigraph.com/t/navigraph-jeppesen-charts-out-of-date/10103

Currently affected: ILS EGTK chart; which came out 4 Nov, that is the day after the AIRAC date, so it won’t be in Navigraph until 1 Dec, the next AIRAC date.

I am using them in flightsimming.

I am amazed by the quality of their work.
Their (Jeppesen) charts and the moving earth map (for flightsimmers) is top quality and at a very reasonable cost.
In your mobile/tablet app you can have all the charts and navigation data in the palms of your hands.
Offcourse there is the disclaimer that they are NOT of real aviation use but as a backup app in your mobile devices its not bad.
The only difference from flightsimmers is offcourse that when viewing it static on a mobile device it will not show your (real) position over earth.
Still though, you have all the maps VFR/IFR as a back up in case needed. Its a low cost solution for the flight planning stage.
