Cylinder Overhaul Shop Recommendation

I am looking for a good shop which can do a cylinder overhaul for a Conti 550B on a EASA aircraft.
Any experiences/suggestions?

I can highly recommend Nicolson McLaren (i used them since many years)
call them and ask for Dean
just had some 520 done with new exhaust valve and honing
quick turn arround

but if you need full overhaul you might consider buying new contis in the US at airpower inc OE Conti about 1800 USD
so that might be more economic than having a overhaul done! Also used them in the past great stock and fast shipping

I don’t know about Conti but in the Lyco world the general recommendation is to always buy new ones. I would wonder if the Conti recommendation was different, given that they have relatively much worse compression figures.

The problem in the Conti world is that new ones actually have a bad reputation as far as valves are concerned. Many even recommend to have new cylinders reworked before installation.

I’ve had good results with Norvic

FAA A&P/IA
LFPN

Gama Aviation in Oxford UK can do all Lyco and Conti engines and accessories.

Avionics geek.
Somewhere remote in Devon, UK.

I’ve just had a cylinder done by Norvic.

Why did you use norvic peter

Because they were local and quick.

I recently had a Norvic cylinder. They weren’t local, but they were quick and the price was right.
